Life of Pi PART II

I've been hearing some rumors of a Life of Pi sequal. I'm going to tell you right now that it will either be awful, or it won't happen. How do you follow up a movie that makes you rethink life? If it were up to me I would take the sequal of the water and into the jungles or mountains. Imagine having to keep an animal alive in the snow of mountains or the heat and rain of the jungles! There is a whole theme of survival stories that can be made of off  Life of Pi.

So I ask you:
If you could create a sequal to Life of Pi how would you do it?

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?
This was by far the best movie on high school ever made. No discussion. If someone asks if you've seen it and you haven't, sprint from where ever you are to any tv with netflix and watch it immediately. Watching this movie makes you realize that there are things more important than work, school, and other activities of the same nature. It shows you that if you don't stop and look around, life may just pass by. This is a classic that never gets old no matter how many times you watch it.

Life of Pi

After slumdog everybody loves a movie about an Indian kid who makes it through adversity. Him and his zoo want to move to San Francisco to live the American dream. After a storm rocks their boat, the kid and his tiger fall off the boat and live on a life raft for a while. Originally enemies, the two come together to create the feel good movie of the year. It also involves aspects of faith and life itself raising huge questions about mankind. What most people don't know is this book and movie are based of my own life. Unfortunately they got the animal wrong, I survived the ocean with an elephant, much harder to do than with a tiger.

Zero Dark Thirty

Zero Dark Thirty is a great movie that is very historically accurate. It ties in various terrorist attacks and bombings from 9/11 to 2011 when Usama Bin Laden was killed in his compound in Pakistan. It chronicles the decade long search for him using various leads, dead ends, interrogations, and torture. The movie is extremely graphic and shows various torture scenes so it is not appropriate for children ,but it is a very good movie for those who can handle it. The acting was fantastic and very natural sounding, based on the way they act during the mission, interrogations, and in general. While it is very long, it is worth it.

Help Out This Cause For Veterans

A lot of movies coming out these days have to do with war and true stories or facts of veterans. With movies like the Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, you realize that there are real people who fight for us, and we see what they could possibly go through on a daily basis. That's why I am asking you to look into and possibly donate to the Wounded Warrior Project. You can donate any amount you want and all the money goes to helping those wounded in battle to rehabilitate and return to normal lives. Here's the link to their website where you can donate any amount.

Argo f--- yourself

A great movie all around and very deserving of its best picture win. It had everything from historical importance to suspense to comedic relief. Telling the story of the Argo operation to pull six embassy employees out of Iran when the embassy was stormed, the movie did a great job with portraying the time period, historical accuracy (to some extent), and enjoyability in general. Ben Affleck was great and should have won the best actor Oscar. As wonderful as Daniel Day Lewis was, Affleck had the better performance in the better movie. Well Argo f--- yourself!

Lift Off

Flight, the critically acclaimed film starring Denzel Washington, was an overall decent movie. It tells the tale of a troubled pilot who saves the lives of 100 people, but is then questioned about his substance abuse and questionable pre-flight regimen. While it did do a great job with Whip, Denzel, and his path to a clean life, it was not what I expected in terms of plot line. The way the trailer was made I assumed that it would be more about the actual plane crash and a mystery to find out what actually occurred, but the movie abandons the mystery of what happened in the plane crash and switches to Whip's substance abuse and the preparation for an FAA meeting to determine Whip's guilt in the plane crash. Going into the movie thinking it would be a mystery or a detective cop type movie will only lead to disappointment when you actually watch an emotional drama. If you know what you are going to watch going into the movie, you will not be let down.
